Japanese-American photographer and film director, Karina Taira was born in San Francisco and attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. She started her professional career at age 19 while still in school and began travelling between Tokyo and Los Angeles. After moving to New York, she was awarded the Diesel perfume campaign which brought her to Europe. This in turn lead to major editorial and advertising work in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and London. At the present time Karina divides her time between her homes in Paris and New York. She has worked for Vogue Gioiello, Premiere Magazine, ESPN, Life Magazine, Blackbook, Bon, Big, Rouge, XS, Italian Amica, and i-D. She has shot for Oil of Olay, Givenchy cosmetics, Louis Feraud, Maska, Salvani Damiani diamonds, Evian, Peugeot, Secrets, Kotex, Marks +Spencer, Microsoft, Lee Jeans, Vera Wang, Neiman Marcus, Globus Lingerie, Phillips Electronics, Il Marchesse Coccapanni with Claudia Schiffer and many more.
