Born and raised in Italy, Carlotta moved to the United States to attend college at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design. She graduated with a BFA in Fine Arts/Photography in 2003. Now based in New York, she often spends time in Europe. Her work deals with the representation of the moments of intimacy in everyday life. The image making plays with the ability to be allowed into the most private states or even solitudes, of her subjects; who are portrayed in the beauty, anxiety and decadence of their fleeting youth. Her work comes across as dreamy, soft yet somewhat dark in a cold romanticism. Carlotta’s work has appeared in publications such as Wonderland, Nylon, Details, Rolling Stone Italia, Studio voice Japan and Blow Up magazines. Her work has been exhibited in gallery shows in Mexico City and in Paris.
